Anthony Greco Returns to Nighthawks For 2026 Season
William & Mary outfielder Anthony Greco returns to the Upper Valley after a strong 2025, bringing experience and production to the lineup.
Anthony Greco will be returning to the Upper Valley in 2026 for his second summer with the Nighthawks. The outfielder, who has an NECBL Player of the Week award under his belt from early last season, will be a key member of a large contingent of returning Nighthawks.
“I really enjoyed the league,” Greco said. “I thought the other competition in the league was really good, and I thought it made me a better baseball player playing in that league. I also enjoyed just the environment and the atmosphere that the Nighthawks created and I'm also looking forward to seeing my host family again.”
Greco slugged 23 RBIs for the Nighthawks a season ago. The junior has recently begun to see more playing time for William & Mary after starting the season as a bench option, notching a home run and a double against Richmond last week.
The 20-year-old said that the biggest lesson he learned in his first year playing for the Nighthawks was to take advantage of every chance he gets to play.
“Just enjoy every moment that you're on the field, because this will hopefully be my last year of summer ball,” Greco said. “
Time is ticking on the baseball window, so just enjoy every moment and don't take anything for granted.”
Greco said that he plans on enrolling in medical school once he is done playing baseball in hopes of becoming a doctor.
However, before Greco returns to school for his final year of collegiate baseball, he will spend the summer surrounded by the nature of the Upper Valley.
“For my birthday [last summer], my girlfriend came into town and we hiked Mount Cardigan in New Hampshire,” Greco said. “That was really cool.
I'd never gone on a mountain before, so I really enjoyed that.”
Greco is also excited to get a chance to play in front of the Nighthawks fan base at the Maxfield Sports Complex for another summer.
“It seems to be that there's a lot of regulars that come to the games, and it kind of gives the feeling that everybody knows everyone in that town,” Greco said. “It's just nice to see the same faces coming and supporting you and cheering on your team. They pack it out pretty well for the field that we play on.
So it's always fun playing in front of a lot of fans.”
While his main goal is to go deeper in the playoffs than a season ago, he also places high importance on meeting and getting to know people in the community.
“I enjoy interacting with the fans …,” Greco said. “Before the game or even after, just come up, say hello, introduce yourself. I'll give you a conversation.”
